A Week of Firsts

It’s Monday morning and I am almost ready to face the week.

Now, as I enjoy my coffee, I thought I would tell you about all the exciting happenings this week!!

Today, Monday, October 20th marks the submissions opening for CAFA’s (Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts) 1st Online Photo Exhibition. It’s a first because CAFA has never held any other type of exhibitions except their well-known annual exhibitions, let alone a virtual one at that.  Our goal, with this online exhibition, is to expand our eligibility of membership while creating a strong community of artists in which they feel empowered.  If you know any photographers, please make sure you pass this link to them.  Hurry up and submit your best photographs!!

Perhaps some daily photo posts might consider competing in this international juried photo show.

Another big project I have luckily been part of is the next exhibition at Central Connecticut State University, my other job.  This Thursday is the big opening of the Richard Welling exhibition, you can find all the pertinent information within the image below.  Why is this so exciting?  Well, that’s because until now Richard Welling, Connecticut artist, has never really been recognized as the fine artist that he is.  Now, with the help of the Connecticut Historical Society, CCSU is the first to have a such a big collection of his work displayed in an exhibition.

If you don’t know about Richard Welling…then you should come to the opening this Thursday afternoon at 4pm – 7pm.  He was an illustrator and educator as well.  His copious urban illustrations of Hartford and New York City are so effortlessly beautiful, they are sure to inspire you to pick up a pen and sketchbook.  Come see “Through the Eyes of Richard Welling” at CCSU Art Galleries in New Britain, you will NOT be sorry!

Hope to see you then.
